Areas with most pot holes in Cape Coral

If you're noticing more potholes popping up on local roads, you're not alone. Chances are you might be like Chrystal Davis and learned to master them.

"Every morning I'm bobbing and weaving to not hit a pot hole," Davis said.

Davis says she's bobbing and weaving through her commute with one thought in mind.

"Is my tire going to go flat? Did I blow a tire?"

Other drivers like Jim Drath have worried they did something even more serious after hearing the thud of hitting a pothole.

"The other day when it was raining pretty hard, I actually thought I may have hit a person," Drath said. "The way it felt, I didn't know what I had done."

Drath and other driver say they want the city to take action and fill the pot holes as soon as possible.

"I think the whole road needs to be repaved," Davis said. "It's so dangerous, I'm surprised it hasn't been fixed yet. Where are our dollars going?"

FOX 4 took driver's concerns to a spokesperson with the city of Cape Coral, who says the city is very aware of the problem.

"Just over the past couple of weeks, we've had almost three dozen calls on pot holes," spokesperson Connie Barron said. "In the whole month of December, we had about 20."

Barron says the most pot holes are known to be on Pelican Boulevard. Diplomat Parkway, and Kismet Parkway. She says pot hole season usually kicks off in the rainy months of summer, but the rainy winter Southwest Florida is having has put pressure on city workers who fix them.

"We have two pothole crews that go out and all they do all day long is fill the potholes," Barron said. "Unfortunately, when it's raining, they can't fill potholes."

Barron says the city has a policy that they respond to pot hole complaints within 3 or 4 days. She says if it's a major road, they try to respond the next day.
