Family mistakenly charged for adult movies

The Overstreet family says it is rare for them to order any kind of pay-per-view movies. But on March 30, Alyssa Overstreet woke up to an unusual email. The email from her cable provider Comcast thanked her for her middle of the night movie order.

Overstreet called to report the error and found out she’d been charged for an adult film she says she never ordered. Over the next three weeks, Comcast charged the Overstreets for about 20 of these films. Comcast customers for eight years,Alyssa and Jason say their purchase history proves they do not order adult movies.

We went to bat for the Overstreets, but Comcast pushed back with this email: "The box that is sending the authorization signal to order on-demand movies is the box that is assigned to the account."

Fed up, these customers canceled Comcast and shipped back the equipment. The UPS receipt shows they returned the cable box April 7. Days later on April 10, 11 and 12, Comcast billed the couple for more adult movies.

So I went back to the company. This time the cable giant explained they'd discovered a data stream error. Comcast called the situation unique and apologized for what happened. Comcast credited the Overstreets $240 for the movies and paid their final cable bill.
