Rookery Bay National Estuarine Research Reserve is offering free admission for kids during the next few Fridays.
Friday, June 22nd, the theme is birds and the following Friday, July 6th, the theme is reptiles.
The research reserve consists of two ecosystems, Rookery Bay and Ten Thousand Islands. The Bay Reserve is comprised of 70,000 acres of open waters containing bays, lagoons and tidal streams, along with freshwater drainage sources, including tidal creeks, canals and sloughs.
The mission of Rookery Bay is to provide a basis of information on estuaries in Southwest Florida through research and education.
