While fraternities and sororities play an important role within the collegiate community, black Greek life is pivotal to African-American history.

Founded on campuses on historically black colleges, these organizations serve as educational support and advocates for community service.

The first black Greek-letter societies became known as "The Divine Nine", and continue to uphold their great legacy today.
