FORT MYERS, Fla.— The Everblades made it rain teddy bears at their hockey game over the weekend.
Justin Auger scored less than four minutes into their game on Saturday against the Greenville’s Swamp Rabbits.
The score gave fans the green light to throw their teddy bears onto the ice for their “Blades Annual Teddy Bear Toss.”
The team set a new record by collecting more than 8,200 stuffed animals.
The team then handed them out to kids at Golisano’s Children’s Hospital.
The Everblades ended up winning their game over the weekend 5 to 4.
They’re now third overall in their league.
