Two locals each win $1 million from scratch-off tickets

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — Two Southwest Florida residents recently became millionaires playing scratch-offs!

Maria Lezcano, 59, of Naples, won $1 million on a $5,000,000 GOLD RUSH CLASSIC scratch-off game. The $20 game launched in October 2018. Overall odds of winning are one-in-2.99. She chose to receive her winnings as a one-time, lump-sum payment of $710,000.00.

Richard Speights, of Cape Coral, claimed $1 million top prizes from THE FASTEST ROAD TO $1,000,000 Scratch-Off. The $30 game launched in February. The overall odds of winning are one-in-2.79. Speights chose to receive his winnings as a one-time, lump-sum payment of $790,000.

Lezcano purchased her winning ticket from Sunoco Gas Station, 11825 Collier Blvd., in Naples. Speights purchased his from South 41 Bingo, 12011 South Cleveland Ave., in Fort Myers. Each retailer will receive a $2,000 bonus commission for selling the winning Scratch-Off ticket.

Scratch-Off games are an important part of the Lottery's portfolio of games, comprising approximately 75 percent of ticket sales and generating more than $1 billion for the Educational Enhancement Trust Fund (EETF) in fiscal year 2019-20.
