Starting on Oct. 2, the Florida Department of Corrections will be resuming visitation at certain institutions, with some additional safety measures.
Friday, FDC Secretary Mark Inch announced that visitation will resume at insitutions "where it is safe and appropriate to do so."
In a video message, he stressed that visitation will look different than before with numerous safety measures in place. Interactions between inmates and family members will also be modified to minimize potential spread of COVID-19.
"We understand how important in-person visitation is for maintaining family bonds, but also want to minimize the risk to our incarcerated population," Inch said.
Inch said that more information on the visitations will come next week. You can see Inch's full video announcement below.
