COLLIER COUNTY, Fla. -- Forestry officials have planned a prescribed burn for a section of Picayune Strand State Forest on Monday.

According to the Florida Forest Service, approximately 120 acres are planned to be burned.

The boundaries of the burn are Miller Boulevard to the west and Miller Canal to the east, and 58th Avenue SE to the north, and 62nd Avenue SE to the south.

That's east of Naples, between Alligator Alley and U.S. 41.

Officials say prescribed burns serve to reduce the understory surface fuels.
