Stories from Florida are sometimes bizarre and outrageous. Most are about the strange things men (and sometimes women) do.

Writer Carl Hiaasen has written books set in Florida about the crazy going-ons in the Sunshine State.

There are at least two Twitter feeds that highlight the "Florida Man:" @FloridaMan__ and @_FloridaMan.

Soon, there could be a TV show from the Oxygen Network dedicated to the "Florida Man."

That's the working title of a show the network says is in development. It gave this thumbnail of the program:

When the murder is so bizarre, the motive so far-fetched and the crime so outlandish that it sounds like something from a Hollywood screenplay—there’s a good chance it was actually committed by a “Florida Man." With access to Florida investigators and prosecutors, this series zeroes in on America’s most notorious, outrageous, craftiest killers from the Sunshine State. The series will unravel the strange twists and turns and try in vain to reason how and why this breed of killers took their crimes to levels beyond comprehension.

No date was given for when the show might air.
