Sisters identified in North Fort Myers Death Investigation

NORTH FORT MYERS, Fla. -- The Lee County Sheriff's office is calling the death of two sisters an isolated incident, Monday.

Around 4 P.M. Sunday, deputies were called to the Royal Coach Estates community and discovered a woman dead inside a home. Her sister was found injured inside the home as well. The died on her way to the hospital. Neighbors were startled at the crime scene. "Unexpected. We're very sorry and shocked," said one neighbor.

An investigation reveals the incident was isolated and detectives are not looking for any suspects. The sisters are identified as 60-year-old Rebecca Duffey and 68-year-old Rita Duffey. One neighbor went to church with one of the sisters. "She couldn't do enough for you," said Carolyn Brown. "She wanted to help you do things and if you needed help, she was right there."

Neighbors told Fox 4 they heard arguing Sunday afternoon before hearing one or two gun shots. They say the neighborhood has been somber since the incident. However, they plan to be as supportive as they can of the family. "We all gather around people who have heartache," said a neighbor.
