Rooney for Congress goes over the issues

FORT MYERS, Fla. - Naples businessman Francis Rooney is ready to fill the seat that will be left vacant by Congressman Curt Clawson.  He's now running a TV ad, the first Republican candidate for Congress to do so.

Rooney is a power broker.  He's given millions of dollars in donations to politicians and super PACs.  But now, hes ready to put his name on the ballot.

Rooney says he is a "water guy" and is ready to focus on water quality issues.  When asked about Federal government subsidies for "Big Sugar", Rooney says "I want to learn more about it."

As far as Donald Trump is concerned, he admits, "Its no secret that I've supported other people, but hes' going to be our nominee."

With everything that is going on in Orlando, the topic of gun control came up.  Rooney says he is a staunch defender of the 2nd Amendment.  But when it comes to terrorist watch lists and purchasing a gun he did say, "people on a legitimate terrorist list can be investigated before they're allowed to proceed."

The former Ambassador to the Vatican is no stranger to the political process and has given millions in poltical contributions.
