FORT MYERS, Fla. -- A shooting Monday morning left a Fort Myers woman dead after being reportedly shot in the face.

It happened shortly after 8 AM in the 3000 block of Dora Street.  That's in the Southward Village community.

A neighbor tells Fox 4 she heard gun shots around 8 in the morning and then saw something she can't ever forget.  "At first all I heard was probably like two or three gun shots, and then I just come outside to see all the police.  I'm walking around the corner and next thing you know, I see a body lying on the ground...lifeless," said  Jarlenie Santos.

A search is under way in the area.

Family has identified the victim as Lalita Odom, a mother in her 20's.

Fort Myers Police say the shooting victim was targeted.  "This isn't a random act. But again, as far as the motive behind it, it's still too early to tell," says Officer Jay Rodriguez.
