Sand bags offered to Lee County residents due to flooding

Residents in Lee County in need of sand bags or sand for standing water issues are asked to report to the following locations:

 

Estero: 21510 Three Oaks Pkwy. Estero, FL 33928;

San Carlos: 8013 Sanibel Blvd;

Fort Myers Beach: Near Tops Supermarket 2545 ESTERO Blvd, Ft Myers Beach, 33931;

Bonita Station 4: 27701 Bonita Grande Dr, Bonita;

Bayshore: 17350 Nalle Rd, North Ft Myers;

South Trail (sand bags only) 13500 Sophomore Lane, Fort Myers.

City of Ft Myers:
Self-serve sand and bags are available under the FMFD Red tent for Fort Myers residents in front of old SWFL History Museum between Jackson and Central Ave.

 

All residents requesting sand bags are asked to bring their own shovels.

The county asks the public to report blocked ditches, swales, canals and areas of local standing water:

 

·         First, to find out if your road is maintained by Lee County DOT, visithttp://leegis.leegov.com/RoadLookup/[leegis.leegov.com].  If it is not maintained by Lee County, find your municipal contact by visiting www.leegov.com/dcd/flood[leegov.com].

·         Second, put in a Request for Action (RFA) to improve surface water drainage along your county-maintained road by submitting a   Request for Action report at  www.leegov.com/dot/requestforaction[leegov.com].

·         People can use the same website to also report blocked creeks and streams (example: downed trees, collected debris).
