A mother is sharing a shocking discovery on her 10 year-old daughter's social media page to help warn others of the threat of online predators.

The man who was messaging the young girl lives in Southwest Florida. The messages between the man and the 10-year-old start off innocent. She tells him she's "chillin" and he says "take a picture for me."

The child asks, "a selfie?" to which the man responds "I really want some other kinds of pics."

"Like you'll be in it...but not just your face."

The young girl seems confused and says "I'm only 10, I can't do that." He then says "yeah you can...it will be our secret."

"What if my mum finds out," the girl writes. "She won't. I won't tell her and you won't tell her," write the man.

Fortunately, mom did find out and she began messaging him, posing as her daughter.

"He said 'they're naughty, so I don't know if you want to do them. If you do, do you have Snapchat?' and alarm bells went off straight away," said Katie D, the child's mother.

In the messages in the man asks the child to take pictures of her body. In one message he says "I'll tell you exactly what I want you to do."

"I vigilantly check everything of my daughter's," said Katie D. It was while she was doing her daily check that she found something that left her feeling sick.

"I went on a message and there was a picture of a man's penis and I just felt sick," said Katie D.

The man continues messaging, thinking it's her 10 year-old daughter. He tells her "go in your bedroom" then says "I want you to lift up your shirt and bra and take a picture." He reassures the child, saying "I promise, I won't tell."

She says "I don't have a bra. They're for older girls."

His response: "Then just lift up your shirt."

The young girl lives in the United Kingdom. Her mother says she's grateful she stepped in when she did.

"I know that there have been previous chats so I was mortified. I thought, I have to tell the police about these messages.

Law enforcement is investigating this matter.
