Minor bike infraction leads to burglary arrest

Two teens pulled over for riding their bikes with no lights on them were arrested in connection to a burglary in Cape Coral.

Police stopped a 15-year-old boy and a 14-year-old boy shortly after 2 a.m. Friday in the 1300 block of Chiquita Boulevard South.

Both had on backpacks and were wearing gloves, Cape Coral Police said.

Police found miscellaneous change, lighters, a phone charger, and several other items, including a hammer, a screwdriver, two putty knifes and gloves inside of the boys backpacks.

The investigation revealed that the boys just burglarized a vehicle and it was determined that the duo was going to use the tools in the backpack to break into other vehicles, CCPD said.

Officers located the victim of the stolen items who later pressed charges against the boys.

They were arrested for Burglary of a Conveyance, Petit Theft and possession of Burglary Tools.
