A Comcast subcontractor in Lee County was arrested after he allegedly was caught stealing a wallet from a car while working.

Jose Ortega was subcontracted by Comcast through a local company called Martek Partners of SWFL. It is unclear if he is still employed.

According to the Lee County Sheriff's Office, Ortega was installing cable at a Bonita Springs home when he was caught taking a wallet from a vehicle parked in the driveway of the home.

The wallet belonged to a woman who was cleaning the home. Residents living in the gated community say there have been other cars burglarized in the community, but this was the first time they've heard about a Cable installer being accused of it.

"It's a gated community, but it's not like secure or anything," said Irvin Rivera.

Irvin Rivera is referring to the fact there isn't a guard at the gate, and after this cable guy was busted for trying to steal on the job he's not taking any chances.

The victim told investigators she confronted Ortega, who then allegedly threw the wallet at the woman and left.

Ortega is charged with burglary and larceny.
