Human remains found in Punta Gorda car fire

**UPDATE** -- The Charlotte County Sheriff's Office is now confirming the discovery of a 2nd set of remains in the car.

The case is being investigated as a homicide.

The Charlotte County Sheriff's Office believes this is an isolated incident and that the public is not in danger.

The incident is not connected to the AMI Kids facility on the property.

The identities of the victims and the make of car has not been released.

CHARLOTTE COUNTY, Fla. -- We've learned a body was found inside a burned vehicle in rural Charlotte County.

Around 10 p.m. Thursday, Charlotte County deputies and fire crews went to a vehicle fire in the 45000 block of Bermont Road.  That's about 4 miles east of State Road 31.

The road is the unpaved driveway leading to AMI Kids, a group home that helps troubled youth.

Once the fire was out, deputies found human remains inside the vehicle.

Right now, the investigation is ongoing to find out who the person is and how the fire started.  The fire is being investigated as suspicious.
