NAPLES, FL -- The Conservancy of Southwest Florida unveiling their new Sea Turtle research facility on Keewaydin Island.

Now entering its 35th year of its Sea Turtle Monitoring and Protection Program, the Conservancy has a new research station on Keewaydin Island, the barrier island between Naples and Marco Island.

Renowned conservancy biologist Dave Addison, who started the program with the Conservancy in 1982, shared insights into his 35 years of studying this ancient creature.

The program is one of the nation’s longest-running sea turtle monitoring and protection programs.

Warmer than average gulf temperatures have Conservancy of Southwest Florida biologists preparing for a possible early start to sea turtle nesting season.
