COLLIER COUNTY, Fla. - Collier County emergency responders received a huge grant tonight.
The sheriff's office received a FEMA grant of $5.8 million for its life-saving handling of Hurricane Irma. They were recognized for securing critical infrastructure, sand-bagging and taking other measures to ensure public safety.
The grant is part of more than $100 million FEMA has provided in public assistance grants to reimburse Florida agencies for Hurricane Irma-related expenses.
