A brush fire burning in North Port Wednesday afternoon.
Fire crews telling 4 In Your Corner the fire happened in the North Port Estates area along Malton Street and Delor Avenue.
The fire started around 1PM and burned through about 2.5 acres.
The fire was burning behind one home and threatened three additional homes nearby.
Officials say the fire was sparked by someone burning debris in their backyard.
North Port is under a burn ban, so the person responsible could be responsible for the cost of responding to the fire.
The Department of Agriculture is investigating the exact cause of the fire.
