Boy Scouts of America (BSA) has a long, proud tradition of conservation. Boys and girls in Cub Scouts and Scouts BSA begin developing strong conservation habits through one of the things BSA does best: giving kids hands-on learning experiences to prepare them for life, including getting young people outdoors where they can explore the environment firsthand.

From dozens of environmentally focused merit badges and awards, to embracing “Leave No Trace” principles, and participating in conservation-focused service projects, Scouts continue to be leaders in protecting our natural resources. Conservation is now engrained in dozens of merit badges including Environmental Science, which is required to earn the prestigious rank of Eagle Scout.

Did you know: Scouts in the World Organization of the Scout Movement, which includes the Boy Scouts of America, have provided more than 1 billion hours of service toward sustainable development, including conservation efforts, since 2013.
