FORT MYERS, Fla. – Friday night, generations of football players will return to Fort Myers High School and watch their alma mater honor 100 years of Green Wave football.

This is a program built on continuity. Coach Sam Sirianni, Jr. is entering his 34th year as a coach there; 18 of those being as head coach.

He took over for his dad, Sam Sr., who was the head coach there for 33 years.

We got a chance to speak with Coach Sam Junior, and some of his players. They say the history at Fort Myers High is something they all cherish.

"It's very special to me, it's all I know. I've been blessed to have kids that played for me, have their kids now to play for me, and grandkids of people that I've played with. It spans generations," says Coach Sam Junior.

They'll test out that continuity when they host the Sebring Blue Streaks. That game starts at 7 pm, and Fox 4 will be there as well for the Fox 4 Game of the Week.
Then see the highlights from this game and many more on our first week of Friday Football Frenzy. That's on Fox 4 News at 11.
