LEE COUNTY, Fla. — As issues with homelessness continue in Lee County, it's important we work with community partners to provide information about where the homeless can turn for assistance and to let the community know how they can help.
The Salvation Army’s Homeless Resource Day Center is located at 2450 Edison Ave., Fort Myers. Resource Day Center hours are 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Saturday. Call 239-789-1169 for more information.
The center provides basic needs and wrap-around services and operates in partnership with several nonprofit organizations offering job skills training, mental/behavioral health services, and medical services. Showers, laundry, food, haircuts, phone charging, and access to treatment and housing programs are some of the services available at the day center.

The Lee County Department of Human & Veteran Services’ Coordinated Entry Program phone line is available for those who need sheltering or homeless prevention services. Call 239-533-7996 to access services. The phone line is open seven days a week, 24 hours a day.

The“Donated not Wasted” food rescue campaign held by Lee County Solid Waste, encourages seasonal residents and visitors to donate unopened pantry items before returning north. The two previous campaigns resulted in 6,000 pounds of food diverted from potential disposal – enough to provide 5,000 meals to hungry people. More information is available here.
