Good news for FPL customers: the company says customers will not pay extra this year for storm restorations during the historic hurricane season.

Hurricane Isaias paralleled Florida's east coast in July. Then in November, tropical storm Eta made two Florida landfills. In total, FPL restored power to approximately 460,000 customers, which cost approximately $200 million.

The cost of responding to hurricanes is not included in the rates customers pay. Instead, they’re typically paid for through a surcharge on customer bills. However, FPL says operational efficiencies will help cover the costs and won’t add a surcharge to bills.
