A list of learning options from Southwest Florida school districts

We're weeks away from the 2020-2021 school year, and local school districts are sharing just how they plan to continue educating students during the pandemic.

From online options to traditional classroom settings, how students will learn this school year is ultimately up to parents and caregivers.

To help you understand the options provided to you in your county, FOX 4 has compiled the following list:

Charlotte County School District

The Charlotte County School District has provided three options:

  • Charlotte Virtual School
  • Home Education
  • Traditional in-class learning (“brick and mortar" learning)

For those choosing on-campus learning, students will have the option to wear masks in school and on the bus, but it is still unclear if this will be a requirement.
If parents want to register their child for online instruction, they must do so by July 31 on the Charlotte County School website.

Collier County School District

The Collier County Schools District has four options:

  • eCollier Virtual Learning Flexible Learning
  • eCollier Virtual Learning
  • Home Education

District leaders say the school will look a lot different for on-campus learners, as face masks and glasses will be provided and required for each student.Hand sanitizing and washing will be built into schedules.

The first day of school is set for August 19.

Glades County School District
The Glades County School District has two options:

  • Mydistrict Virtual School
  • Traditional classroom

The district says that students returning to traditional learning should expect enforcement of social distancing whenever possible.
Face masks and shields are not mandatory.
However, they will require all students to wear a mask to and from their classroom, during arrival and dismissal, while moving around on campus, and on the bus.

GCSD says they will adhere to strict disinfecting measures.

Hendry County School District

The Hendry County School District has three options:

  • Distance online learning
  • Traditional learning
  • Virtual school

Students returning to traditional on-campus learning will be encouraged to wear face masks during the school day. Masks are expected to be worn on the bus.
The district says it will take measures to ensure sanitizing and cleanliness is maintained throughout the day.

Lee County School District

The Lee County School District has these options:

  • Homeschool
  • In-class Learning
  • Lee Home Connect Program
  • Lee Virtual School.

The district says it will implement staggered arrival and dismissal.
Temperatures will be taken upon arrival.
Masks will be required in hallways and on buses.
Lunch will be offered with a new grab-and-go procedure.
