Goodwill Industries offering COVID-related assistance to the SWFL community

FORT MYERS, Fla. — Since the “Safer at Home” order, Goodwill Industries of Southwest Florida has been helping those who experienced loss due to the pandemic through application assistance and referral services.

Bilingual Community Resource Center (CRC) coordinators help individuals fill out unemployment applications & stimulus payments, apply for SNAP and LIHEAP, help with CARES applications, make referrals for Rapid Rehousing for the homeless, and help connect those in need to partner agencies who can provide additional supports and services.

Goodwill’s mobile unit travels to underserved communities in Immokalee, Naples, and Cape Coral, helping those without computer access or with language barriers get the assistance they desperately need. Goodwill coordinators help guide applicants to bring all of the required documentation prior to the application appointment.

For those needing to reinvent themselves due to un-expectant job loss, Goodwill SWFL offers free certification training in 12 different industries, and basic computer skills training for those who need to enhance their computer literacy. Become certified as a CNA or in Quickbooks for free.

Goodwill also assists job seekers with resume writing, interviewing skills, and online job search.
