PUNTA GORDA, Fla. — The Fresh Jersey Tomatoes are partnering with the Boys & Girls Clubs of Charlotte County to distribute food to those in need.
“The last 10 months have taken a toll on so many people in our community on so many levels. Seeing news coverage of people in their cars lined up to get food because they can’t feed their families has been overwhelmingly heartbreaking. So we decided to organize a food drive in the hopes our efforts might make a difference. We reached out to local businesses hoping they would agree to be drop off locations for people to donate non-perishable foods… and the responses were a resounding YES!,” said Nanette Leonard, founder of Fresh Jersey Tomatoes.
Fresh Jersey Tomatoes says all donated food will be distributed through the Boys & Girls Clubs of Charlotte County.
“The Boys & Girls Clubs of Charlotte County is excited about the partnership with the Fresh Jersey Tomatoes. Food insecurity is real trauma for families and especially kids. Families & Kids need our help. This food drive will help our families & kids survive during these trying times. The people of Charlotte County are amazing - always there when people need help! Thank you.” said Lynn Dorler, Executive Director of Boys & Girls Clubs of Charlotte County.
It begins Feb. 1 through March 31.
