Hi Southwest Florida! Wanting to learn more about the newest girl on weekday mornings?
First, I’ll start with a little about who I am behind the lens.
My full name is Noelani Ku’ulei Mathews. And yes, my ohana is Hawaiian!
I grew up a military brat, which landed me in South Georgia for most of my life. I decided to stay closer to home and attended Valdosta State University, where I majored in Mass Media and minored in Communications.
Before becoming a news reporter, I traveled across Ireland to team-produce an award-winning documentary series about food trucks in Dublin. I also interned at the Valdosta bureau for WCTV, a CBS-affiliate TV station located in Tallahassee, Fla.
Surprisingly, a career in local news was not my on my radar before that point. My experience led me to discovering my passion for helping others and I accepted my first on-air job in 2015.
For the next four years, I worked as a multimedia journalist out of WCTV’s South Georgia bureaus. In that time, I reported a wide variety of community-driven stories over multiple counties and cities.
Fast forward to January 2020, I’m now a Southwest Florida girl at Fox 4! You can catch me on weekdays as their morning feature reporter.
When I’m not on-air, I love learning new things, getting lost in a book, and spending time with my family and Belgian Malinois, Riley.
You can also find me seeking a fun adventure.. and dragging my sweet, patient husband along with me! If catch me out, please say hello!
