Southwest Floridians snapping up thousand of Powerball tickets before tonight's drawing. 500 million dollars is on the line for the grand jackpot prize, that's about 275 million after taxes if you take the lump sum.
Southwest Floridians are competing against thousands of other Powerball players in 44 states.
The owner of a Naples Chevron station says his store sold nearly $3,000 worth of tickets today alone.
Odds of winning the Powerball jackpot are about 292 million to 1, but that didn't stop John Smiley from loading up on tickets. "I've got 20 quick picks here, and I have the winner in here somewhere, I just don't know where." said Smiley.
The drawing will take place at 11pm.
