PASCO COUNTY, Fla. -- A Florida man is charged with Child Neglect after an autistic child he was caring for wandered onto a busy street.

According to the Pasco County Sheriff's Office, 47-year-old Peter Wislosky, Jr. was taking care of a 4-year-old non-verbal autistic child at a Dade City home when the girl managed to exit the home without Wislosky noticing. The girl made it onto a busy street and was nearly hit by passing vehicles.

Wislosky said that a door alarm at the home, which is specifically designed to sound if the girl left the home, was not working and had been disabled for three days. He also admitted he left the door's deadbolt unlocked while he was busy away from the child.

Wislosky was arrested and taken to the Land O' Lakes Detention Facility.
