Woman arrested for operating illegal body piercing business from home

LEHIGH ACRES, Fla. — The Florida Department of Health requested the assistance of the Lee County Sheriff’s Office regarding an illegal body piercing shop operating illegally.

After a thorough investigation, detectives identified Danays Marie Licor, 22, as the owner of Piercings by Dee.

Detectives discovered multiple social media pages for Licor, including Facebook and two Instagram pages, where she continuously advertised she was taking appointments for piercings as well as prices.

The Florida Department of Health verified that Danays Licor did not possess a valid license or certificate for body piercing.

Detectives went undercover to view the operation at the Lehigh Acres home. An undercover detective met with Licor who agreed to $50.00 for three piercings.

As soon as the money was exchanged, the detectives detained Licor.

Licor was arrested and charged with Body Pierce Salon, Own, Operate, w/o Business License.

In the statute, the elements under 381.0075(8) state the act of owning, operating, or soliciting business as an establishment in Florida without first procuring a license from the department constitutes a Felony of the third degree.
