Witness: Car stolen in dramatic carjacking at Fort Myers airport

FORT MYERS. FLA. — FORT MYERS, Fla. -- Scary moments for one family at Southwest Florida International Airport overnight after a reported carjacking.

Four in Your Corner spoke to a witness who's a skycap for United Airlines, who says a man stole a woman's pocketbook and then stole a car with a baby inside.

The witness says the mother jumped in the backseat to get her baby out. The father was holding on to the car and got dragged.

That witness says the suspect then drove away in the stolen car.

UPDATE (2:45 PM) -- The Lee County Port Authority confirms an arrest has been made in this case.

They say that just before 6 a.m. Monday, 36-year-old Addi Maqableh of Houston, Texas stole a wallet or purse from an employee along the concourse at RSW and ran outside, where he carjacked a vehicle that was being unloaded.

None of the car's occupants were injured in the incident.

Authorities later found the car abandoned in the median of Chamberlain Parkway.

Maqableh was later apprehended at 11:20 a.m. with the help of the Lee County Sheriff's Office.

He is facing charges of Aggravated Battery, Robbery, Kidnapping of a Minor, Kidnapping/False Imprisonment of an Adult, Larceny, and Vehicle Theft.
