FORT MYERS, Fla., - A Fort Myers family say they’ve been receiving mysterious threats recently warning them not to show up in court.

A voicemail sent to a hit and run victim said, “You better not show your f***ing face to court. We know where you live.”

The victim who received the message says he was hit by Eduardo Benitez in December. Benitez, who was arrested and charged for the hit and run while driving with a suspended license, is still in custody.

The victim says he was working on his car when the car hit him.

The victim’s girlfriend was a witness in the hit and run. Someone left a brick at her house this week that read, “Don’t say s*** or else.”

The victim believes the threats are warnings meant to keep him from showing up in court although he’s not sure who's been leaving the voicemails.

He’s taking the threats seriously, getting law enforcement involved because he’s concerned about his family.

“Someone leaves threats about your family, you just can’t let that go. You gotta make sure everything’s ok.”

Despite the threats, he tells 4 In Your Corner, he’s not standing down. He will still go to court.
