The victim involved in a fatal boat crash that happened on Friday has been identified.

Marc Newberry, 20, of Naples was pulled from a canal in the Golden Gate Estates community, Florida Fish and Wildlife said.

The vessel, a 16 foot 2001 Carolina Skiff, was also occupied by David Banas, 21, of Naples.

While traveling eastbound in the canal, the vessel attempted a left hand turn and both occupants were ejected , FWC said.

A witness told 4-in-Your Corner he saw one man in the water.  He dove in to try and find the victim, but he said the water was extremely murky.

Another neighbor says he isn't surprised a boating accident would happen here.  "They put a boat launch down here at Santa Barbara a couple years back and ever since then I've seen 4 times the boating activity than I used to see," said Steve Tompkins. "Obviously it's going to give more opportunity for stuff like this to happen."

Newberry died as a result of his injuries sustained in the crash.

This is an ongoing investigation.
