CAPE CORAL, Fla. -- A four car crash resulted in a downed power pole Tuesday afternoon.

“There was this big impact, and I really didn’t know what was going on,” said Donna Gross, victim of crash.

Cape Coral Police Department says the driver of a silver truck was driving down Skyline Boulevard near the 4900 block when he hit a sign and continued driving on the opposite side of the road.

“He was traveling down this side of the road, went airborne, hit the utility pole, that’s right next to my house here,” said Gross.

Donna Gross was the only other driver involved, pulling into her driveway on the 5200 block of Skyline Boulevard. After the truck snapped the utility pole, it started a chain reaction with two other cars and ended with the truck slamming into a palm tree.

“People in the neighborhood thought there was a big thunderbolt,” said Gross.

Donna and the driver were the only two people involved and had no injuries, but says it was a close call with the way the sedan’s bumper hit her car, “so I would’ve been a little bit further in the seat, it probably would’ve not been good.”

Cape coral police Department says the driver wasn’t impaired or on any medications and just cited for the incident —

Traffic was blocked off in both directions just after 3:30pm as LCEC replaced the power pole that snapped in half as a result of the crash.

LCEC says only three immediate houses were without power as the utility company quickly replaced it.
