Traffic stop leads to stolen vehicle, weapons and drugs in North Fort Myers

LEE COUNTY, Fla. — Lee County Sheriffs were in the area of Suncoast Drive in North Fort Myers when they noticed a vehicle driving erratically.

Deputies conducted a traffic stop on a Dodge Ram. That is when Deputies were informed Tyler Bennett, 28, that the vehicle he was driving was stolen out of Cape Coral.

While conducting the stop, Bennett’s girlfriend shows up to the scene and tries to obstruct the investigation.

Deputies asked Emily Garrett, 27, to move her vehicle or leave the scene, however, Garrett did not comply.

Deputies arrested Garrett. A search conducted on Garrett’s purse revealed Methamphetamine.

Emily Garrett was charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance without a Prescription, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and Obstruction without Violence.

While searching the stolen vehicle Deputies located two firearms, an empty gun holster, more than 33 Xanax Bars and 15 packets of Suboxone.

Tyler Bennett was arrested and charged with Carrying a Concealed Firearm without a license, Grand Theft of a Motor Vehicle, and two counts of Possession of a Controlled Substance without a Prescription.
