UPDATE - (7:44 pm) -

Cape Coral Police say one person has died after a four-vehicle crash at a major intersection caused an extensive shutdown.

It happened at Burnt Store Road and SW Pine Island Road Tuesday morning.

Police say 62-year-old Armando Rodriguez-Rodriguez was killed in the crash.

Multiple agencies conducted traffic control, and a hazmat team had to respond to the scene because of a fuel spill.

Investigators say 75-year-old Daria Elizabeth Kukuruza was driving a Maroon 2017 Ford Fusion northbound on Veterans Pkwy.

She was about to turn left onto SW Pine Island Rd and crossed Rodriguez-Rodriguez's path.

Rodriguez-Rodriguez was driving a green 1996 Mack 600 and was traveling southbound on Burnt Store Rd crossing over SW Pine Island Rd.

Police say, as a result, the front of Rodriguez-Rodriguez's vehicle struck Kukuruza's car.

They say Rodriguez-Rodriguez attempted to swerve to the right to avoid the collision.

His truck began to spin clockwise rotation and ended up overturned on its left side.

Police say the truck landed on top of the traffic signal box and the roof of it collided with a metal traffic light pole.

Cape Police also say after Kukuruza's car was struck, it rotated clockwise towards the intersection and hit the bumper of a 2014 Chevrolet Silverado that was stopped at a red light.

57-year-old Michael W Gardner was driving that truck.

Police say Kukuruza's car continued sliding south and entered up in the outside turn lane of SW Pine Island Rd, where a 2018 Honda Odyssey was sitting.

Kukuruza's car slid sideways into the Oddessy and then came to a final stop.

Investigators say witnesses told police the traffic light was green before Kukuruza's car crossed in the path of Rodriguez-Rodriguez's truck.

Kukuruza suffered non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to a local hospital.

All other drivers inside the third and fourth vehicles did not report injuries.

Investigators say Alchohol and drugs are not a factor in this crash.

The traffic lights at the intersection will continue to be out for several hours.
