Three pounds of marijuana siezed during traffic stop in Charlotte County

PORT CHARLOTTE, Fla. -- A Charlotte County driver was arrested Saturday after a K-9 unit detected marijuana in the vehicle during a traffic stop.

According to the Charlotte County Sheriff's Office, at approximately 2:00 a.m. Saturday, deputies conducted a traffic stop at the intersection of Catherine Avenue and Cellini Avenue. The driver was identified as 28-year-old Zachary Alan-Charles LaFlair.

Due to the suspicion of narcotics, K-9 responded and conduced a free air sniff which concluded in the detection of narcotics.  Deputies located three large vacuumed sealed bags with the totality of 3.15 pounds of marijuana inside the trunk of the vehicle.

LaFlair was arrested and charged with possession of marijuana with intent to sell, possession of marijuana over 20 grams, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
