The BBB says it happens when an uncertified individual does your taxes.
They may forget to sign your return.
If they do, your taxes are then considered self-filed.
Being considered a self file may not be a big deal unless there's something wrong with the return.
This mistake then leaves you liable.
The BBB wants to make sure if you are hiring someone to do your taxes, you hire someone certified and knowledgeable.
