Teen arrested for violent threats made to Gateway Charter High School

FORT MYERS, Fla. — A 14-year-old has been arrested for making violent threats toward Gateway Carter High School.

On Nov. 12, the Lee County Sheriff’s Office received information regarding the first of a series of threats of violence targeting the high school.

More than 100 units were assigned to the investigation, and all assets were deployed to ensure the safety of the students and staff.

Using state-of-the-art technology, deputies determined the threats were made by a 14-year-old, eighth-grade student at Gateway Charter School.

After conducting a search warrant on the teen's home and phone, he was arrested and faces two counts of Written Threats to Conduct a Mass Shooting and one count of Disruption of School Function.
