FORT MYERS, Fla. -- The woman accused of a fatal hit and run on a North Fort Myers teen last weekend made her first appearance Wednesday after turning herself in Tuesday.

23-year-old Courtney Gainey had her bond set at $75,000 for the county of hit and run involving death, and for $25,000 for the count of hit and run involving injury.

Her attorney said she was picked up on a warrant at Cracker Barrel, and said he wanted to make sure there was no implication that she was running.

The state said she had an open booking, that she left Lee County jurisdiction and called her a flight risk, and asked that she be held on no bond.

The state called in a lead detective, who said he was told she was hiding out with roommate or boyfriend in Naples.

The judge also ordered that Gainey have no contact with the victim's family, and that she wear a GPS device.

An arrest warrant had been issued for Gainey earlier this week, after 14-year-old Allana Staiano was hit and killed while walking along the road with a friend in the Suncoast Estates community.

Taylor Stewart, Staiano’s best friend, tells Fox 4 she was walking with Allana on McDaniel Drive on Saturday night. She says that’s when a car came from behind.

The passenger side mirror of an unknown vehicle struck her and knocked her to the ground. “It hit me in the arm, and then flew and hit her.”

The driver did not stop to offer aid, and left the scene.
