CAPE CORAL, Fla., - Police are investigating after a teen was battered at a McDonalds parking lot.
The incident happened at the McDonalds on Santa Barbara Boulevard and Veterans Parkway near Cape Coral High School.
Students at the nearby school often gather at the restaurant after school. But on Friday, witnesses say an argument escalated into a fistfight in the McDonalds parking lot.
Dramatic cell phone video shows a mob of teens tackling a teen to the ground.
Parents say they’re appalled, but not surprised.
“I’m not surprised. I've actually called the police myself there waiting in the pickup line about a fight that was going on in another parking lot,” said Angela Fischer, a parent.
"It happens all the time,” said another parent.
Cape Police say they’ve received 57 calls for service to the McDonalds over the past year alone, most for disturbances involving minors.
Officers say they haven’t arrested anyone for Friday’s fight.
This isn’t the first time a fight was caught on camera at the McDonalds. Last year, a video surfaced on Twitter showing an all out brawl in the same parking lot.
“It's well known. The fighting goes on between the McDonalds, the 7-11 and the Lowes,” Fischer said.
Cape Coral Police say most of their calls to the McDonalds don’t lead to an arrest.
“McDonald’s holds the safety of its customers and crew members as our upmost priority and we have an established no loitering policy,” said Michael Adams, Owner/Operator of the McDonalds in a written statement.
