Hotels in Collier County are beginning to fill up as people head north ahead of Hurricane Irma.

Staff at the Spring Hill Suites off I-75 and Collier Boulevard say people evacuated the Keys are beginning to check in.

The Holiday Inn Express across the interstate is also sold out for the weekend.

"What brings us here is a hurricane churning in the Atlantic right now," said Steve Delonge.

He and his friend's vacation to the Keys were cut short after officials evacuated the island chain.

Another hotel off Collier Boulevard. Fairfield Inn says it expects to be sold out over the weekend.
