CAPE CORAL, Fla.-- The City of Cape Coral will give rebates to thousands of homeowners, now that a portion of the utilities extension project is complete.

The costs of constructing and financing the water distribution facilities are lower than what was estimated. The refunds are going to about 6,000 owners in the Southwest 6/7 area. Area 7 is around SW Trafalger Pkwy and SW 15th Street. Area 6 is a corner of SW 13th street between SW 11th place and SW 8th Court.

The amount of the refund depends on a few factors including the service that was installed (water, sewer and/or irrigation) and the land size. A typical Cape Coral home that was connected to water, sewer and irrigation will receive a refund of about $500.

Customers that opted to pay these assessments through the tax billed method will receive a balance adjustment. Customers who paid the assessment in full may be due a refund check.
