DeSOTO COUNTY, Fla. -- Seven people, including a 3-year-old child, were injured Monday morning when a church bus crashed into a ditch south of Arcadia.
It happened just before 8 a.m. on U.S. 17 near the intersection with SW Wood Street.
Florida Highway Patrol says the bus was headed northbound when its front right tire blew out, sending the bus into a ditch along the highway and into a wire mesh fence.
A total of 20 people were on the bus at the time. Five of them, including the child, were taken to DeSoto Memorial with non-life threatening injuries. Two others were taken to Bayfront Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries.
