LEE COUNTY — Your world series fever doesn't have to end with the Washington Nationals and Houston Astros.

Lee county kicked off a longstanding world series of its own on October 25.

Hundreds of players from all over the country, and world, played their first games in the Roy Hobbs World Series.

The tournament is in its 31st year, with 27 of them being in Lee county.

Players say the series provides them with a yearly vacation and a chance to catch up with longtime friends.

But they're not the only ones benefiting, according to the President of the Roy Hobbs Baseball Organization, Tom Giffen, the local economy is also seeing a boost.

"We figure that the spending over the five weeks, if you include everything that people does, it's gonna be somewhere in the range of $15-16 million dollars," said Giffen.

The series wraps up in November.
