UPDATE-- Enterprise takes full responsibility for woman's distress over the unregistered license plate on her rental car. The car company tells Fox 4 that a third party agency accidentally put the wrong license plate on the wrong car.

The mistake was not caught in time to fix eventually leading Bailey Hawkins to receive two traffic citations. Enterprise told Hawkins they would go to court for her, but never showed. They explained that Hawkins' file was never received.

Enterprise issued this statement to Fox 4:

"We are terribly sorry this happened to Ms. Hawkins.  We put her in a horrible situation, and we are going to work with her to make it right.  Thank you for bringing this to our attention, so we can make sure to take care of Ms. Hawkins."

Hawkins was notified her license was suspended after her arrest. Read the story in more detail below.

FORT MYERS, Fla. -- One woman found herself behind bars after Enterprise gave her a car with an unregistered license plate. The seven and half month pregnant mother spent seven hours in prison when the car company didn't show up in court to pay for her traffic citation.

"Fax us over the tickets with the court dates and we will take care of this for you, you don’t have to go to court,” said Bailey Hawkins, the Enterprise customer, describing what the office on the Colonial Blvd. told her after she received two citations for the unregistered license plate of her rented Toyota Camry.

Hawkins said she assumed that Enterprise would show up to her court date, but they never came. It led to the Fort Myers Police Department showing up at her door and arresting her for failure to appear in court.

The local Fort Myers Enterprise office referred Fox 4 to follow up with the corporate headquarters. Four In Your Corner will be asking for a comment on Monday.
