Police searching for man who stole $1,000 worth of items from Cape Coral Lowe's

CAPE CORAL, Fla. -- Police are looking to identify a man they say took advantage of a distracted cashier to walk out of the store with over $1,000 worth of items.

It happened September 5th at the Lowe's store on Pine Island Road at Del Prado Boulevard in Cape Coral.

According to Cape Coral Police, the man placed two items in a shopping cart and went to the returns desk at the front of the store.

The suspect told the cashier that he was waiting for his wife to bring the receipts.  But when the cashier wasn't looking, the man left when someone else came in the main doors.

Total value taken was $1,098.
