Surveillance cameras captured two people police think are car burglars.
A young man rode his bike up a driveway and then dismounted in order to check to see if the car was locked in Cape Coral.
"It can happen to anybody," said Rob Schaech, who just moved to the area a few months ago. "I mean kids riding up and down the street at 3 in the morning, they have better things to do than break into cars," he added.
The Cape Coral Police Department is investigating clusters of break-ins in north and southwestern parts of Cape Coral. The surveillance cameras show two people overnight on January 14th around the 2200-2300 blocks of SW 19th Avenue and SW 19th Place.
"Our officers are busy taking reports, conducting neighborhood canvasses, and running down leads in the hopes of identifying the burglary suspects and making some arrests," said Lt. Dana Coston from Cape Coral Police.
Coston says neighborhoods should have their guards up when school is out.
"Auto burglaries increase when you have kids out of school and long weekend," said Coston.
Police recommend you double check to make sure your cars are locked. They also suggest removing your valuables too. Neighbors say they'll look to upgrade the security in their homes.
"I know different websites have great days right now on those cameras with very good quality," said Schaech. "I'm definitely going to put up a couple around my house to make sure that doesn't happen to me," he added.
