FORT MYERS BEACH, Fla. -- Routine maintenance will close a parking lot at the north end of Fort Myers Beach for a day and a half.

According to Lee County Government, the parking lot at Bowditch Point Park on Fort Myers Beach will be closed all day on Thursday, Dec. 21, and until noon on Friday, Dec. 22, as crews complete annual routine maintenance.

The closure is scheduled this week so the lot will be open for the busy holiday weekend. All trails, the beach and the LeeTran drop off at the cul-de-sac remain open.

Patrons can travel to the park by using the new Beach Park & Ride, located at 11101 Summerlin Square Drive, near the corner of Summerlin and Pine Ridge roads. This location provides more than 125 parking spaces for beachgoers to park free and take the trolley to the beach. The trolley provides a stress-free way to travel to the beach and eliminates the need to sit in traffic and find parking on the island.

Check the Bowditch Point Park page for the latest information.
